There is no intro or outro to this one. I seem to have misplaced those files. Dear Jesus, if you feel so inclined, I would love a production manager, please! The technology side of things is really not my wheel house. Thank you!
This prayercast is a little odd in form. I’m praying and address God directly, but some of the things I say are for the sake of those who are listening. Jesus did this once when He was praying for His disciples. He said, “You already know this Father, but I say it for the sake of those who hear me.” I do this sometimes when I pray with a group. I pray alone a lot, and those prayers have become a kind of shared vernacular and set of themes and images that inform later prayers. They are our inside jokes and shared memories, mine and God’s. Those memories inform the way I think about other topics of prayer that come up in a group setting and the way I then pray about those topics, so to be polite, I give the group some context of the prior conversation with God that I am referencing in my mind, so that they can join us in prayer. It is a way of allowing the other non-omniscient beings in the room a doorway into my mind, and into the larger conversation happening in the room. It is not about teaching them, it is about enabling unity and extending hospitality with them. I hope that in this post you feel my invitation to unity and fellowship as well.
