The Book of Wisdom (Part 2)

In my prior post about Proverbs, I said that it was a frame narrative of God’s interaction with humanity, and that the middle chapters 10-29 were like gleanings, little seeds of wisdom, that the Holy Spirit drops in our path for us to find.

In this post I thought I’d share a few of the seeds that I’ve picked up during my days in Wisdom’s House.

  1. God is not a cheap date. You would know the heart of the Holy One? You would call Him Friend? It will cost you something! Broker! Sell Everything! Buy the One Pearl!
  2. False religion says, “You Should! You Should!” True religion says, “Here am I, Lord! Send me!”
  3. When you meet the bitter waters of Marah w/ unbelief, it always makes the journey longer.
  4. Marriage unites opposing sides. It is unity with distinction. Yet three things even four will never marry! Water (judgment) and Wine, Light and Darkness (ignorance), Sheep and Goats (stubbornness), Truth and Lies!
  5. The Tree of Knowledge is a test. Image Bearer, Can you separate Truth from lie? He said, from someone said.
  6. Obey! Speak the Spirit’s declarations! Don’t strive! When anxiety, confusion comes into your mind, when that voice says, “It’s not enough! You need more!” Fall back to praise. Worship the Holy One!
  7. Live the Manna Life! That sweet place where work and rest dwell together as brothers.

May you find your way to Wisdom’s Door, and may you never leave Him.
